Vin Diesel Just Announced Fast Forever Starts Shooting In December β And The Script Made Him CRY π
The action star revealed the final Fast & Furious film starts shooting this December β and admitted he cried reading the script after going through FOUR writing teams over four years. Get the tissues ready.
Stop EVERYTHING, because Vin Diesel just dropped major news about the final Fast & Furious movie β and we are NOT emotionally prepared for this. The action star revealed that Fast Forever, the 11th and final film in the beloved franchise, starts shooting this December. Oh, and the script made him full-on SOB. ππ¨
Yes, really.
"I Was Crying"
Vin opened up about the emotional journey of getting the script right at Monday night's 25th anniversary screening of The Fast and the Furious in Los Angeles (yes, it's been 25 YEARS β we feel ancient).
"We start shooting in December, if I can make good on the request from the studio," Diesel told Variety on the red carpet. "I'm in a good place, though. I had to go through four sets of writers, four years of development, to get to something that I felt would be worthy of a finale."
And then came the kicker: "When I read the script a couple of weeks ago, [I cried]."
FOUR YEARS. Four different writing teams. And now he's finally got a script that does justice to the franchise that's made $7.3 billion worldwide. No pressure or anything!
And Then It Got More Emotional
Inside the screening, Vin got even MORE vulnerable with the audience, sharing exactly HOW hard the script hit him.
"I'm going to tell you something personal," he said, according to Variety. "It was after four different writers, four years of development, and after I read the script, halfway through, one tear. By the end of the script that we crafted and worked so hard to make right for you after four years, I was crying. I couldn't hold it back, and I had to tell everyone."
He added that his sister told him, "No more crying, bro" β but honestly, if VIN DIESEL is crying over this script, we are going to be WRECKED when the movie comes out. π
The Tea β
- Fast Forever hits theaters March 17, 2028 (mark your calendars NOW)
- The Fast & Furious franchise is Universal's longest-running AND most profitable series with $7.3 billion worldwide
- The 25th anniversary screening featured the OG cast including Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, and Meadow Walker (Paul Walker's daughter) β Page Six has all the photos
- Director Louis Leterrier told Polygon he HASN'T read the script yet (awkward!)
Family Forever
The anniversary screening was especially poignant given that Meadow Walker, daughter of the late Paul Walker, was there to celebrate where it all began. The Fast franchise has always been about family β both on and off screen β and seeing the cast reunite 25 years later hit HARD.
The fact that Vin spent four years and cycled through four writing teams to get the script right shows just how seriously he's taking this finale. This isn't just another action movie β it's the culmination of a quarter-century of car chases, heists, and found family that's defined a generation of blockbusters.
And if the man who's been Dominic Toretto for 25 years is crying while reading it? We're going to need to bring an entire box of tissues to the theater in 2028.
