Stop scrolling: Taylor Swift is back on top of the Billboard 200, and she did it by adding a little encore. Yes, really.

According to Variety, "The Life of a Showgirl" has returned to No. 1 for the first time since January, thanks to the expanded edition, "The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore," which comes with four new bonus tracks.

The Tea ☕

  • The Encore edition pulled in 173,000 equivalent units, putting the album back at No. 1.
  • That's the album's 13th week atop the chart, a number Variety quips Swift was "surely looking to achieve."
  • Her new single "Patient Zero" is expected to debut at No. 1 on the Hot 100, too. That top 10 drops Monday.

The Numbers, Because We Love Numbers

Per Variety (citing Billboard and Luminate), album sales made up 21,000 of that 173,000 total. Streaming-related units added another 136,000, which works out to about 138.79 million on-demand streams.

And the sales part is digital-only for now. Variety notes Swift hasn't put any physical copies of the expanded set up for sale yet. Imagine what happens when she does. (We're just saying.)

A Very Long Road Back

"Showgirl" last held the top spot for the chart week ending Jan. 10, 2026, when it was notching a 12th, and at the time seemingly final, non-consecutive week at No. 1. It came out in October 2025 and ruled much of the holiday shopping season.

With this return, it now holds her second-highest tally of weeks at No. 1. Her record still belongs to "The Tortured Poets Department" at 17 weeks, while "1989" and "Fearless" sit at 11 each. So, TTPD, we see you. We're coming.

The "Patient Zero" Effect

Variety points to another big boost: the high-profile "Patient Zero" music video, co-starring Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell, which premiered at the MTV VMAs last Sunday. Dakota, of course, also got a surprise Swift visit during her SNL monologue over the weekend. It's been a very Taylor-and-Dakota week.

Who Else Made The Top 10?

Not just Taylor's party. According to Variety:

  • No. 2: Olivia Rodrigo, "You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl in Love" (67,000 units)
  • No. 3-5: Ella Langley, Morgan Wallen and Noah Kahan
  • No. 6: Tinashe's "Popstar" debuts with 35,500 units
  • No. 7: Kenny Chesney's "Silver Sands Marina" lands right behind with 35,000. That's a gap of a few hundred units. A squeaker!
  • Also in the top 10: Olivia Dean at No. 8, Kahan's "Stick Season" at No. 9 and Drake at No. 10

Last week's champ, Miley's "Bass Persuades," dropped out of the top 10 entirely.

So… Is The Deluxe Strategy Genius?

Whether you call it savvy or unfair, it works. A fresh edition, new tracks and a big video moment sent a year-old album right back to the summit.

Is 13 the new lucky number, or should Taylor go chase TTPD's 17 weeks? Are you Team "Showgirl Encore" or are you begging for a physical release first? Sound off below.
