Shay Mitchell Just Sold Her Luggage Brand For $210 MILLION โ And She's Keeping Her Job ๐ผโจ
The Pretty Little Liars alum turned her travel frustrations into a multimillion-dollar empire โ and just secured the bag (literally) with Samsonite in a deal worth over $200M.
Stop what you're doing, because Shay Mitchell just proved she's the ultimate boss babe โ and we are BOWING DOWN. ๐
The Pretty Little Liars alum has sold her travel lifestyle brand BรIS to luggage giant Samsonite in a deal worth $210 million, E! Online and the companies confirmed on Aug. 13. Yes, really.
And here's the best part: Shay isn't going anywhere. She's staying on as Founder and Head of Creative and Design, PLUS she's keeping a 15 percent ownership stake in the company she built from the ground up.
She's Living The Dream โจ
"This is a dream come true," Mitchell, 37, gushed in a press release. "I'm so proud of what our small but mighty team has built over the past eight years."
The deal breaks down like this: The majority shareholder Beach House Group is selling its 70 percent stake for $147 million, while Mitchell is cashing out half of her equity โ about 15 percent โ for $31.5 million. She'll hold onto another 15 percent and continue running creative for the brand.
Translation? She just made BANK and still gets to do what she loves. We are not okay. ๐ฐ
From Broken Wheels To A $210M Empire
According to E! Online, Mitchell launched BรIS back in 2018 after one too many travel disasters left her furious at overpriced luggage that literally fell apart.
"I've had experiences with luggage where wheels would fall off and I'd get angry at myself for not spending more money to get a better bag," she told Elle in 2023.
So she decided to create "a line of affordable bags that had all the function I could dream up and look really good at the same time."
The price point was everything. "I know how expensive traveling is," she explained. "I don't want the bags to break the bank because you should be able to spend that money on the experiences you have."
Honestly? Queen behavior.
The Tea โ
- The Deal: Samsonite acquires BรIS for $210 million total
- Shay's Cut: She sold 15% for $31.5M and keeps another 15% stake
- Her Role: Staying on as Founder and Head of Creative and Design
- The Timeline: Built the brand from scratch in just 8 years
What's Next?
BรIS will continue operating as a standalone brand within the Samsonite portfolio, so don't panic โ your favorite weekender isn't going anywhere.
"We've always dreamed big, and joining the Samsonite Group gives us the chance to dream even bigger," Mitchell said in her statement. "They're truly the perfect partnerโour strengths complement each other so well, together we can take BรIS places we couldn't have on our own."
She added: "I'm so thankful that I get to do something I love every day. Eight years in, I'm as excited as I was on day one. It honestly feels like we're just getting started, and I can't wait for everyone to see what's next."
Balancing Boss Life And Mom Life
For Mitchell โ who shares daughters Atlas Noa, 6, and Rome, 4, with partner Matte Babel โ the BรIS office has become her "second home," she told Page Six in February.
"And my girls also love it," she said. "There are a lot of snacks over there, so anytime mommy's going to the office, they are more than happy to come, so it kinda works out."
From Pretty Little Liars to literal business mogul with a nine-figure deal? We love this journey for her. ๐
