Stop scrolling, because Formula 1 just crowned its youngest world champion EVER, and somehow the second biggest story of the night was two Ferrari team-mates going to war on lap one. Yes, really.

History, Made In Mexico City

Kimi Antonelli clinched the 2026 title by finishing third at the Mexico City Grand Prix, according to BBC Sport. He's 20 years and 68 days old, which smashes Sebastian Vettel's previous record by more than three years.

He's also the first Italian champion since Alberto Ascari in 1953, and he did it with four rounds still to go, per Sky Sports.

BBC reports he was so overcome on the radio that he couldn't talk at first, with tears mixed with laughter, before finally getting out: "We did it." We are NOT okay.

Sky adds that Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton lifted him onto their shoulders on the podium. A tidy passing-of-the-torch moment.

Meanwhile, Ferrari Were Having A Moment

Here's where it gets spicy. Hamilton started on pole, his first for Ferrari, but Charles Leclerc challenged him from the off.

At the Turn 4/5 chicane, Leclerc dived around the outside, went across the grass and emerged in the lead. Hamilton had also run wide while defending, and Verstappen nipped past him into second.

Leclerc got a five-second penalty. The usual punishment is 10 seconds, but BBC says stewards took into account that Hamilton had gone off too. Hamilton was not feeling that logic, radioing that the stewards were basically "handing Charles this win," per Sky.

"Big, Big Problems"

During the red flag after Valtteri Bottas' heavy Cadillac crash, Hamilton said over the radio: "We've got big problems. Big, big problems," according to BBC Sport.

After the race he said the team "have to have some serious talks behind closed doors," adding that the first-lap fight is what lost them the win.

Leclerc's side: both drivers missed the corner, he felt it was worth keeping the place with a Red Bull running second, and "it is racing." He also said he'd speak with Hamilton.

BBC notes this is the latest and arguably most serious in a run of tensions this season, including a Monza first-corner clash, an ignored team order and a Singapore row over being let by.

The Restart Chaos

The Bottas crash brought a standing restart, where Leclerc launched badly and Hamilton went for Verstappen into Turn 1. They made contact, and Verstappen came out on top.

Hamilton then couldn't get close enough to pass for the rest of the race. Verstappen banked his third win in four races and admitted Ferrari "made it a little bit difficult for themselves."

The Tea ☕

  • Antonelli is the youngest F1 champion ever at 20 years and 68 days, and Italy's first since 1953.
  • Verstappen won after Ferrari's Hamilton and Leclerc tangled on lap one.
  • Hamilton wants "serious talks" at Ferrari, while Leclerc says it was hard racing.
  • Next up: the Sao Paulo Grand Prix on 6-8 November.

So Who's Right?

Sky pundit Karun Chandhok said Ferrari had the fastest car for the second weekend running and still didn't win because they weren't "playing the team game properly."

Ferrari have a lot to discuss before Brazil. We'll be watching that garage like it's a reality TV reunion.

So tell us: was Leclerc just racing hard, or did he cost Ferrari a win? And is Antonelli about to dominate F1 for a decade? Sound off below.
