KATSEYE Just Dropped Out Of Olivia Rodrigo's Festival TWO DAYS Before It Starts β And Fans Are Devastated π
Megan sprained her ankle during rehearsal and doctors told her to rest up. The timing? BRUTAL. The girl group was set to perform at Olivia's inaugural Daisy Chain Fields this Saturday.
Stop everything, because this is NOT the news we wanted to hear.
KATSEYE has officially pulled out of Olivia Rodrigo's Daisy Chain Fields festival β just TWO DAYS before they were supposed to perform. Yes, really. And honestly? Our hearts are breaking right alongside theirs.
What Happened? β
The group shared the devastating news on Thursday, revealing that member Megan Skiendiel sprained her ankle during tour rehearsal on Wednesday. After being evaluated by doctors, she's been told to stay off it completely so it can heal properly before their upcoming "Wildworld" tour kicks off in Dublin on September 1.
"We're so incredibly sorry to share that we are unable to perform at Daisy Chain Fields this Saturday," the group wrote in a statement posted to their social media. "It breaks our hearts to disappoint anyone who made plans to be there."
And listen, we get it. The timing is BRUTAL.
The Tea β
- Megan sprained her ankle during Wednesday's tour rehearsal
- Doctors advised her to rest so she can be ready for the European tour starting September 1
- KATSEYE was scheduled to perform at 2:15 p.m. on the Dandelion Stage between Santigold and Mitski
- Devon Again has replaced them on the lineup
This Festival Meant EVERYTHING
Here's the thing that makes this even more heartbreaking: Daisy Chain Fields isn't just any music festival. According to E! Online, Olivia Rodrigo created this inaugural event in Irvine, California, with an all-women lineup including Chappell Roan, Stevie Nicks, Sarah McLachlan, Doechii, and Mitski.
Plus, all the net proceeds are going to charity β organizations like Planned Parenthood, the Center for Reproductive Rights, and Baby2Baby, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"We were especially excited for Daisy Chain Fields because it's not just about music, but the greater mission of joy and community," the group shared in their statement. "We're sending all our love to Olivia and to all of the incredible artists, non-profit organizations and volunteers who have given their time to make this day so special."
Megan herself posted on Instagram: "I'm heartbroken to miss Daisy Chain Fields, especially because of everything this festival stands for."
And Then It Got Worse
If you've been keeping up with KATSEYE, you know this girl group has had a ROUGH few months.
Fellow member Manon Bannerman went on hiatus back in February to "focus on her health and wellbeing," and then earlier this month, Sophia Laforteza announced she'd also be taking a temporary break to prioritize her "mental health and wellness."
So the group has been down to four members β Megan, Lara Raj, Daniela Avanzini, and Yoonchae β and now with Megan's injury, fans are understandably worried about what comes next.
(For what it's worth, this isn't Megan's first injury rodeo. She took a brief break back in September 2024 due to a back injury related to scoliosis, so girl knows what recovery looks like.)
But Wait β There's Good News Too
Despite all the setbacks, KATSEYE is absolutely KILLING IT right now. The group just scored their first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 last week with their latest EP "Wild," according to Variety.
So yes, they're dealing with a lot, but they're also at the peak of their career. Which makes this ankle injury timing even MORE frustrating, because you KNOW they wanted to be on that stage celebrating with Olivia and the rest of the incredible lineup.
The group assured fans: "It's going to be such an amazing day, and we can't wait to see everyone out on tour."
What's Next?
For now, all eyes are on whether Megan will be healed up in time for the European leg of their "Wildworld" tour, which starts in Dublin in just a few days on September 1. The group is scheduled to perform across the U.K. and Europe through mid-September before heading to North America in October.
Fingers crossed the rest goes smoothly, because these girls have been through ENOUGH. π€
