Jimmy Kimmel's Wife Just Revealed The EXACT Moment She Knew He "Wanted To F--k" β And It Involves Five Foods ππ³
Molly McNearney is spilling ALL the tea about how her workplace romance with her now-husband Jimmy Kimmel started β and the story involves a six-month plan, five favorite foods, and a "bad idea" that somehow worked out perfectly.
Stop everything, because Molly McNearney just told the story of how her boss Jimmy Kimmel wooed her β and it's ADORABLE and slightly awkward and we are OBSESSED. π
The writer and producer appeared on Monday's episode of the "Armchair Expert" podcast with her husband, and let's just say she did NOT hold back about the moment she realized the late-night host had romantic intentions.
The Five Foods That Started It All
Here's how it went down, according to Page Six: McNearney was eight years into working at "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" when someone asked everyone to share their five favorite foods during a meeting.
She casually "rattled off, 'Pizza and gnocchi, crab claws, BLT and chocolate chip cookies.'"
And then Jimmy made ALL FIVE of them for her six months later.
"Talk about a long play!" the now-48-year-old quipped on the podcast.
"Oh, He Wants To F--k"
McNearney recalled going to Kimmel's house after work, and when he opened the door, it smelled delicious. "He's like, 'I made some things,' and it was pizza and gnocchi, crab claws, chocolate chip cookies and BLT," she said.
When podcast host Dax Shepard asked whether she "immediately register[ed] that as, 'Oh, he wants to f--k,'" McNearney didn't hesitate.
"Yes!" she replied. "It made me very excited and very nervous. I remember thinking, 'Oh, no. This is a bad idea.' He was my boss."
Yes, really. The power dynamic was NOT lost on her.
"The Person In Power Usually Doesn't"
When Kimmel, 58, noted that he "didn't have that thought at the time," his wife clapped back with the TRUTH: "The person in power usually doesn't, but I was very nervous about it. I thought it was a terrible idea. β¦ I was very skittish."
According to TMZ, McNearney explained her concerns: "I just kept thinking statistically this is not going to work out and your life isn't going to change but mine does. And that's what freaked me out. Because I had worked really really hard."
We are NOT okay with how relatable this is. π
They Kept It Secret At First
The Tea β:
- McNearney worked at "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" for EIGHT YEARS before anything romantic happened
- Kimmel remembered her five favorite foods from a random meeting and cooked them all six months later
- They did "some sneaking" and kept things "very very quiet" for the first few months
- McNearney was terrified it would change the work dynamic in the writers' room full of "mostly men"
"I was very nervous about it changing the work dynamic and I was in a room of mostly men and we had a great thing going on β¦ and I didn't want it to change," she told the "Armchair Expert" hosts.
The Meet-Cute Was⦠Not Cute
McNearney also shared their first meeting, and it's hilariously awkward. When she was introduced to Kimmel a couple weeks into working on the show, "I don't think Jimmy even looked up from his desk," she remembered.
The executive producer mentioned that McNearney did triathlons. Kimmel's response? "How stupid."
"That was it," McNearney said, insisting she didn't "look at him [in a romantic] way at all" and was "intimidated" at first.
And They Lived Happily Ever After
The duo got engaged in 2012 and walked down the aisle the following year in Baja, California. They now share two children: daughter Jane, 12, and son Billy, 9.
Kimmel also has two adult children from his first marriage, which ended in 2002.
During the same podcast appearance, TMZ reports the couple revealed their kids know President Trump "hates" Jimmy β but that's a whole other story. π¬
