DWTS Yacht Rock Night Ended In A SHOCK Elimination — And The Couple Who Survived The Bottom Two Is Making Fans Furious
Taylor Hanson and Britt Stewart just got sent home on Yacht Rock Night while a 15/30 dancer survived. Plus: the first trio of eights of the season.
Plot twist nobody ordered: Dancing With the Stars turned Yacht Rock Night into a shipwreck, and Taylor Hanson is officially overboard while the night's lowest scorer stayed afloat. Yes, really.
The singer and his pro partner Britt Stewart were the ones eliminated Tuesday night, according to Page Six, after their Foxtrot to "What a Fool Believes" earned an 18/30. The Hollywood Reporter called it a "shock elimination" and said the ballroom was stunned.
The Tea ☕
- Taylor Hanson and Britt Stewart are out after the Week 3 Yacht Rock episode, per Page Six and Deadline.
- Amber Glenn and Harry Shum Jr. tied for the top spot with 24/30, the highest score of Season 35 so far.
- The field is now down to 12, and next week is all about Mariah Carey. Yes, really. We are READY.
Smooth Sailing (For Some)
Let's talk about the top of the leaderboard. Olympian Amber Glenn and Pasha Pashkov opened the night with a Foxtrot to Toto's "Hold the Line" and snagged the first trio of eights of the season, per The Hollywood Reporter.
Later, Harry Shum Jr. and Jenna Johnson matched that 24 with a Jive to Hall & Oates' "You Make My Dreams (Come True)." Cue the Glee alum fans screaming into their pillows.
Maura Higgins and Mark Ballas also picked up their first eight of the season and landed at 22/30 for a Quickstep to "Turn Your Love Around."
Wait, Who Was Actually In Danger?
Here's where it gets spicy. Before the elimination, hosts Julianne Hough and Alfonso Ribeiro revealed that Guillermo Rodriguez and Savannah Bananas star Jackson Olson were ALSO in the bottom, per Page Six.
And yet it was Taylor and Britt who got sent home. Guillermo's Foxtrot to "Escape (The Piña Colada Song)" scored the lowest of the night at 15/30, so the fact that he survived says a lot about how voting works. (The lowest combined total of judges' scores and viewer votes goes home, as THR explains.)
Looking at the scoreboard, per Deadline:
- Tatyana Ali and Jenna Dewan: 21/30 each
- Ezra Frech: 21/30
- Connor Wood: 20/30
- Julia Stiles: 19/30
- Ciara Miller and Jackson Olson: 18/30
- Tyler Cameron: 17/30 (the lowest score among those who weren't in the bottom)
The Sweetest Part
Britt told THR before the season that she was relieved when Taylor said he'd do whatever it took, even buying a cot to sleep at the dance studio. She described him as being "in it to win it." That is a dream partner energy, and we're a little heartbroken.
Meanwhile, Julia Stiles got emotional in rehearsals this week over low scores and a rib injury, per Page Six. She still made it to next week, and honestly, we're rooting for her.
What's Next
Taylor and Britt join Conner Leavitt, Sarah Jane Nader, and Giada De Laurentiis on the eliminated list. Next Tuesday is Mariah Carey Night, and the remaining 12 couples will tackle her biggest hits.
So tell us: was Taylor's elimination the right call, or did the voters get it wrong? And who's your pick to lift the Mirrorball? Sound off below.
