Ariana Grande Just Told Trump To Stop Using Her Music AGAIN β And Her Clapback Is EVERYTHING π€π₯
The pop superstar is NOT having it after Trump's team used "we can't be friends" in an anti-trans TikTok β and her three-word takedown? Absolutely brutal.
Stop what you're doing, because Ariana Grande just delivered the clapback of the century β and honestly? We are LIVING for it.
The "Eternal Sunshine" singer took to the comments section of a Trump campaign TikTok on Thursday to absolutely demolish the administration for using her 2024 hit "we can't be friends (wait for your love)" without permission. And trust us, she did NOT hold back.
The Tea β
- Trump's TikTok team posted a rally video using Ariana's song "we can't be friends" alongside anti-trans messaging
- The video showed Trump walking on stage with text reading "Men can't have babies and should never compete in women's sports"
- Ariana commented: "Never use my music again. Also, your truth is false."
- Her label is working to get the song removed from the post
What Happened This Time
According to Variety, the Trump campaign posted a video to TikTok showing the President walking to a podium at a rally. The clip opened with text quoting her song lyrics β "Me and my truth we sit in silence..." β before pivoting to anti-trans talking points.
The caption literally tagged her with "#arianagrande," which... yeah. That was a choice.
Deadline reports that Ariana's response was swift and cutting. She dropped into the comments with a devastating one-two punch: not only demanding they never use her music again, but also directly refuting the video's message with "your truth is false."
We are NOT okay. π
And Then It Got Worse (For Trump)
This isn't even the first time Ariana has had to tell the Trump administration to back OFF her discography.
As TMZ points out, back in June she blasted the White House for using her song "Bye" in a pro-ICE video showing arrests and deportations. Her response then? "Please do not ever use my music in relation to this barbaric, inhumane, heinous nonsense."
Yes, really. She said that.
Her team successfully got "Bye" removed from that post β and according to sources, her label is now working to scrub "we can't be friends" from this latest video too.
She's Not Alone
Ariana joins an absolutely STACKED roster of artists who've had to publicly drag the Trump administration for unauthorized music use. We're talking Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Rodrigo, SZA, the Rolling Stones, Neil Young, Katy Perry, Kesha, Radiohead, Noah Kahan, Bad Bunny, BeyoncΓ©, Celine Dion, Rihanna... the list goes on.
In late July, Noah Kahan put it perfectly after the White House used "American Cars" on Instagram: "Would never approve of my music being used in support of you or this administration."
Tell them, Noah! π
The Bottom Line
Look, using someone's art to promote views they vocally oppose? That's not just legally questionable β it's deeply disrespectful. And Ariana Grande has made her stance crystal clear: she stands with the LGBTQ+ community, she opposes Trump's policies, and she will NOT let her music be weaponized for propaganda.
Period.
The fact that this keeps happening β that artists have to repeatedly tell the same administration to stop β would be funny if it wasn't so exhausting. But at least we get these absolutely iconic clapbacks out of it.
As Ariana winds down her Eternal Sunshine Tour, one thing is certain: she's not backing down from speaking her truth. And unlike Trump's "truth"? Hers is actually, you know... true.
Whose side are you on in the ongoing music-use wars β Team Ariana or Team... actually, never mind, we already know. Sound off in the comments! π
